A complete range of post-workout supplements that work as hard as you do

When we exercise we put our muscles under strain, and they adapt by growing stronger to cope with this stress. To grow muscles properly, a recovery programme must be implemented. Recovery supplements are designed to be taken after your exercise and are a scientifically proven way of kick starting the recovery process if taken within 90 minutes of exercise. Protein shakes, BCAAs, peptides and amino acids all maximise recovery to get the best out of every work-out.

Suitable for:

  • Men and women who exercise regularly, looking to tone and build muscle strength
  • High-intensity training; recovery supplements aid muscle growth
  • Endurance training to help you to safely push yourself further
  • Lessening post-gym ache, allowing for a more thorough exercise schedule
Every time we exercise, we put our muscles under stress. In order to adapt, our muscles grow bigger and stronger, and straight after exercise is when your muscles are most susceptible to protein. A thorough recovery programme lowers the risk of injury, promotes muscle growth, lessens pain and provides the body with nutrients and water lost during exercise.

Reflex Nutrition Beta Alanine

Beta-Alanine-250g-820005002500001-1-310x310

What is Beta Alanine?

Reflex Nutrition’s Beta Alanine is a pure amino acid supplement in powder form, designed to support sporting goals. Beta-alanine is technically a non-essential beta-amino acid, but it has quickly become anything but non-essential in the worlds of sports performance nutrition and bodybuilding. Beta-alanine occurs naturally in the body and is found in many sources of meat and fish, however cannot be made by the body itself.

Who is it for?

Beta Alanine is found naturally in the body, and thus it is suitable for men and women who frequently exercise and are looking to boost their protein intake without the bulk of a protein shake. It is most effective for supporting exercise lasting longer than 60 seconds. Beta Alanine is suitable for vegetarians.

What are the benefits?

  • Easy to take powder format
  • Mixes instantly in water
  • Pure form of beta alanine amino acid
Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, which make up muscle mass. Protein contributes to the maintenance and growth of muscle mass, aiding sporting goals. Beta Alanine is crucial in the building of carnosine levels in skeletal muscles, which helps distribute acid in the muscles, aiding sports performance in explosive, fast action sports, from weight training to sprinting and boxing.

Recommended Usage

Take 1.6g (approximately one 2.5ml measure) and mix with water. Take three times daily. Training days: Take one serving 20-30 mins before workout, and another serving immediately after workout with your favourite post-workout shake. Take a third serving with a meal. Non-training days: Take three times daily with meals.

How is it made?

Beta Alanine is made naturally in the body, and is also found organically in our diet. Mainly sourced from red meat, specifically pork and beef, it can often be difficult to obtain enough beta alanine in a modern day to day diet. Reflex Nutrition’s Beta Alanine is a pure form of the amino acid, providing more than the average daily meat intake would usually deliver, and is also a vegetarian product, offering more versatility to those following a particular diet.

The science behind it

Beta Alanine’s role is to promote high intramuscular concentrations of carnosine, a small molecule composed of the amino acids histidine and alanine. Carnosine acts as a buffering agent, helping maintain an optimal muscle pH range, thus delaying the onset of muscular failure. Carnosine is a bond of beta alanine and histidine which is highly concentrated in muscle and brain tissue. During high intensity exercise, lactate acid and hydrogen ions are produced which cause a drop in pH in the working muscle (the burn). Carnosine is pH buffer allowing normal working pH to be sustained for longer, allowing intensity to be sustained for longer. Beta Alanine is required for this to function correctly.

 How does it taste?

Beta Alanine is completely tasteless, so simply add to your water and drink to reap the benefits.

Anything else?

Tubs include 250g, with 156 servings. This product is a food supplement and should be used in conjunction with food as part of a healthy and varied diet, not as a substitute for such. Do not exceed the stated recommended daily dose. Keep out of reach of young children. This product may produce a mild tingling sensation in the face and upper torso, this is normal and is associated with beta alanine consumption and can last up to 30 minutes. Consult a medial practitioner if the sensation continues for longer, or other undesired effects are encountered.
